An Early Glimpse of Vista
Months before the scheduled release of the Microsoft Vista OS, Worktank was asked to produce a microsite that gave a glimpse of what the new software was capable of.
My Role
I was asked by Worktank to Art Direct and help develop the site. Working closely with the Creative Director, I began with several rounds of wireframes and storyboards and proceeded to lay out a vision of how to craft the experience. The site went on to garner much attention from excited Windows users and picked up many awards along the way. It's too bad the OS itself wasn't received as well.
Strategy & Art Direction
It was decided early on that we would tell the story using the help of partner success stories using an early release version of the OS. The site content was almost entirely video segments and interviews with the partners speaking to the power of Vista. This was in a day where video in Flash was just beginning to make an appearance. Best of all, an actor (Tom Skerrit) was contracted to narrate the full-screen experience. See below.
We shot Tom on a green-screen then seemlessly tied the video into the background (not an easy task back then)
