Project Brief
Every year T-Mobile revamps it's NBA cross-promotional website, and this year they wanted to change it up. Instead of the same old template used on most of the T-Mobile branded sites, they wanted to try something fresh and new. That's where I came in.
My Role
Garrigan Lyman Group hired me to Art Direct the new site and come up with concepts that were fresh and would resonate with their audience which was primarily 18-30 year old basketball enthusiasts.
Concept & Art Direction
Instead of the stale T-Mobile format used in many promotional pieces of theirs, we decided to push things a bit and focus on the edgier side of street basketball as a way to relate to the defined demographic.
I created a humorous flying basketball character (see below) that buzzes like a hummingbird, dangling the navigation from itself and zipping through the air from section to section through a side-scrolling cityscape.
I also designed a fun little hoop-shoot game where users could aim and shoot at a floating "hoop in the clouds". After playing, users were asked if they wanted to save their score on a leaderboard and/or sign up for a special promotion T-Mobile was running.
Of course, you can't forget Sir Charles & D-Wade...
